Pass the Hat: Digital Fundraiser Show

Pass the Hat: Digital Fundraiser Show

Sunday, December 20, 2020 @ 2:00PMSun, Dec 20, 2020 @ 2:00PM

Sidedoor/ zoom, Zoomtown, Edmonton/Dublin

0Stella and Callistan host an international digital fundraiser with Irish and Canadian artists. To keep the spirit of Christmas alive, all proceeds will be donated to Boyle Street Community Services in Edmonton and Inner City Helping Homeless, Dublin. Artists from both countries will be performing one Christmas song in a songwriter-in-the-round style.

Featured Artists:

Shred Kelly - Vernon, BC. A five piece, alternative folk rock band that emerged from the heart of the Canadian Rockies in 2009. Known internationally for their highly energetic live show.

ELKAE - IRE. Electronic soul artist, songwriter and producer setting out in a genre of her own. She combines funky old-school grooves with new and exciting electronic production, polished off with her powerful, soulful voice to create a high energy live show!

Skye Wallace - Toronto, ON. Skye Wallace is what happens when a trained singer with east coast roots discovers punk rock in their youth and writes music that makes you feel excited.

Sinead McConville & D. Cullen - IRE. Successful artists on the Irish scene independently from each other, when Sinead and D come together they craft luscious harmonies and delicate melodies around wistful and emotional pop songs.

Emmett Michael - Edmonton, AB. Introspective and enthralling, with equal parts grit and grace, Emmet Michael is a musician who was built on his trials.

Chloe Agnew - IRE - Singer/songwriter and original member of world renowded Celtic music group Celtic Woman

Kayla Williams - Calgary, AB. Kayla Williams is a singer/songwriter from Red Deer. Kayla’s solo music is a focused 80’s synth pop sound.

Taylor Mas - IRE. Pop Singer/Songwriter who recently released her debut solo Single ‘Bad News’. The emotional, modern pop ballad was added to the RTE Radio 1’s recommendations list alongside a Q&A on RTE Entertainment.

Goodnight Sunrise - Toronto, ON. "Goodnight, Sunrise rages with such enthusiasm, you can’t help but feel the same way ... bridging the divide between straight-up rock’n roll and hook laden indie-rock." - Lonely Vagabond

Zac Stephenson - IRE. Trashy Punk Grunge

Drea Lake - Montreal, QC. Her acoustic sound reflects influences of pop, folk, finger style guitar and neo-soul.

Libran - IRE. Chamber pop artist, songwriter, producer.

Alex Whorms - Hamilton, ON. Piano-pop. "beautifully crafted pop songs" - The Hamilton Spectator, Graham Rockingham’s best bets

0Stella - Edmonton, AB. Ruthlessly authentic alt-rock blended with Irish fiddle. Paramore meets The Waterboys.

Aoife Doolan - IRE. Aoife moved to the US to become Music Manager, Band Leader, and Lead Vocalist, touring on cruise ships.

Ed & The Last Noel - IRE. Noel and Ed hail from a magical land which is unknown to most and they would like to keep it that way; for the safety of everyone else. Before the end of days scenario we are currently in they could often seen in their natural habitat; perched over a pint of Guinness and complaining about absolutely everything.

To continue standing with Black Lives Matter and #amplifymelanatedvoices I am choosing to participate in this event on Saturday as a means to highlight music by POC and its influence on my own work.

According to a recent survey 64% of artists and creative workers are unemployed! Every opportunity to perform, showcase or display in person has vanished for the time being. The creative community is deeply wounded by the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, I’ve joined RAW Artists in an effort to help fundraise directly to artists for a project titled, The National Arts Drive.

On Saturday, June 6, 2020, we’re calling all artists in every creative medium to showcase from their front lawns, driveways, balconies, stoops or studios. We’re inviting the community at-large to take a drive and experience the creative culture living in their own neighborhood. The driving experience will be paired with a mobile website and interactive map. As drivers approach an installation or performance they can donate directly to the artist, follow them on social media and/or flag their online shop for future purchase.

If you or a creative you know if interested in joining this movement and raising awareness and financial support for artists, sign up and drop your map marker at https://NationalArtsDrive.com

RYMESTONE Album Launch with 0stella, Tanjeryne and Naem Gabriel

Doors at 7:00 First act 7:30 $10 at the door or online at YEGLIVE

Dark Horse promotions presents three gorgeous Edmonton songsmiths and a genre defying prairie band that will be blasting through your northern city with all the humble, expansive intensity of a boreal wind, but grittier and with better hair.

RYMESTONE Gritty, female fronted post-punk prairie act. They serve up a poetic grunge cocktail that is one part electric, one part forest, one part frustration and one part love and longing. Shaken and served over ice. Currently touring their debut album Nighbourhood. https://www.rymestone.com

0stella 0Stella [oh-Stella] is the solo project of Edmonton-based, Irish-Canadian artist Liz Pomeroy. Ruthlessly authentic alt-rock blend with traditional Irish fiddle to create catchy pop melodies with oft-politically charged lyrics drenched in irony and rebelliousness. Reminiscent of Garbage, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, St. Vincent, PJ Harvey and The Frames, 0Stella’s music is both socially conscious and confessional. www.0stella.com

TANJERYNE Up and coming alternative singer-songwriter from Edmonton, Alberta who draws influence from artists such as Lana Del Rey, Fleetwood Mac & Norah Jones. A songwritting, event organizing and acoustically freelancing millennial, she is one to watch and watch out for. Tanjeryne is currently in the process of recording her first EP with her band. https://www.tanjeryne.ca/

NAEEM GABRIEL Naeem Gabriel is a singer-songwriter from Slave Lake, Alberta who moved to Edmonton 5 years ago with the intention of breaking into the music scene. Since then, he's played countless pub gigs, festivals, house concerts and attended the Edmonton Music Awards 3 years in a row.
